Life Encounters?

Life’s a funny thing. All of us know, deep down, that there is supposed to be something attractive about it. We talk about “life-giving” experiences, or things that make us “come alive”, or “living life to the MAX”. Yet for many, the life that we experience on a daily basis is the opposite of this. Life is hard and draining rather than joyful and life-giving. Even things in this world which promise such life and fulfilment ultimately full short and still leave us empty. The prevailing theme of the culture around us is summed up in the age-old axiom “Life sucks and then you die”. But surely there’s more to life than this?

When Jesus was telling people what he’d come to bring he used one word: LIFE.

Abundant life, in fact. Life to the full. Not just the hope that there might be such a thing as eternal life: that one day when this life is over and we die there will finally be something better that awaits us. No. Abundant life. A life that satisfies. Life that flows from the inside unabated – regardless of the tough situations of everyday life we all find ourselves in.

Life. What is it and how can we find it? That’s what this blog is all about. Thoughts, meditations, devotionals, dicussion and quotes. All centred around this central theme: “How can I encounter the life that is promised in Jesus”

About me

Despite the fact that my accent has been polluted from years of living in London profile(which has been called the greatest city in the world) I remain English - born in Norfolk and raised in Sunny Sussex. I’m married to Amanda (since 1996) and have two sons who are already on their way to becoming mighty men.

The bottom line is I’m a Christ-follower who is passionate about God and about people encountering him in a real, life-changing way, and seeing them become all that He desires them to be.

Every Nation Church

I am one of the pastors with Every Nation Church, London. We are a group of people who are committed to reaching every nation of the world through doing what we can to connect people in London into relationship with God. As a pastor I look to shepherd people and create a culture in which church becomes ‘an authentic, loving community of believers who are on a mission together to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world.

For me that’s about relating and encouraging; developing leaders and growing teams. It’s about teaching the word and believing in people. Believing that God has called them and has a plan for them. Mostly it’s about creating a culture of grace, faith, obedience and passion for God.
